Thank you for noticing DUMBO Press. We are a new independent literary press that recently launched in March 2024.
DUMBO Press is an altruistic endeavor, the mother of all geese, a passion project, a clean-cut website harboring the dark underbelly of life. We strive to be a respite from the harsh world of traditional publishing and grow a readership that loves literary fiction. We want the Dostoevsky-wannabes, Hemmingway-wannabes, the Sylvia Plath-wannabes, and everything in between. At Dumbo Press, we aim to make the dreams of writers shatter a bit more gracefully. Less like a bull in a china shop, more like a clumsy ballet dancer. It's not like it was ever possible for your dreams to come true anyways, so suck it up and send us your writing.

Kameron Hansen, co-founder and editor
Kameron Hansen, co-founder and editor, is the author of the novel Birthweek of a Hikikomori and screenplay Er Lin. He is an active researcher in chemical physics and is based in Iowa City. Instagram: @naosdauf

Alyssa Santoleri is a Creative Writing Major on the Publishing track at the University of Iowa. With past experience on the campus publication InkLit and currently a prose editor for undergraduate literary magazine New Moon, she's excited to be joining Dumbo's team!

Josie Boyle is an undergraduate at the University of Iowa studying English Publishing and Communications. In her free time, she loves baking new recipes and trying coffee shops in Iowa City and beyond.

Thorough, line-by-line feedback on works up to 5,000 words. This includes advice on style, voice, syntax, structure, grammar, narrative, and proofreading—$30.00. For feedback on longer pieces, please contact us directly.
